Can you wear this vibrant but mellow shade of Living Coral?

Every year, Pantone announces its color of the year. Last year, it was Ultra-Violet. This year it is Living Coral.  Pantone describes the reasoning behind their choice of this color for 2019. “Vibrant, yet mellow PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral embraces us with warmth and nourishment to provide comfort and buoyancy in our continually shifting environment.”

“In reaction to the onslaught of digital technology and social media increasingly embedding into daily life, we are seeking authentic and immersive experiences that enable connection and intimacy. Sociable and spirited, the engaging nature of Living Coral welcomes and encourages lighthearted activity. Symbolizing our innate need for optimism and joyful pursuits, Living Coral embodies our desire for playful expression.

“Representing the fusion of modern life, PANTONE Living Coral is a nurturing color that appears in our natural surroundings and at the same time, displays a lively presence within social media.”

It’s a vibrant color in fashion. Here, Gigi Hadid, a youthful 23 years old, steps out in a monochromatic coral from head to toe. (I think she needs an undershirt – but that’s just me! Maybe she couldn’t find one in the right shade of coral! Ha!)

Catherine Summer is  British blogger who, with her “coral” colored hair, is a perfect example of how to sport coral in real life. I would love to know how you plan to incorporate this color into your wardrobe – if it suits you. Not everyone can wear this color well! Have you had your colors done? That’s one way to find out what colors flatter you the most.

Expect to see Pantone’s color of the year in home furnishings as well. I have loved pink and orange together ever since I was a young child and it was considered then to be a horror and just not done.  Well, I loved it and today pink and orange (coral) make a bold statement in fashion and home furnishings. Who knew I was ahead of the trend at age 7?

I love these colorful sketches on a sea of coral. The blue dresser/console is the perfect shade of blue to complement the coral swathing the wall. Cozy and warm!
